    Russia Ukraine war: FIFA, UEFA suspend all Russian football teams

    With the Current issues happening in the Russia Ukraine war, the football teams in Russia have all being suspended by FIFA, UEFA.

    Following the invasion of Ukraine, UEFA and FIFA have enforced indefinite bans on all Russian football teams from international competition.

    This implies that Russia will be barred from competing in the 2022 World Cup, despite hosting the previous edition in 2018.

    As Russia’s athletic exile deepens, UEFA has cancelled its £40 million a year partnership with Gazprom, the Russian state-owned energy company.

    Following Russia’s military action in Ukraine, which began last Thursday, the governing bodies have been under tremendous pressure from members and politicians to take action against them.

    Over the weekend, Poland refused to play Russia in a World Cup qualifier due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

    In addition, international football bodies such as the FA and the Scottish FA have stated that they would not play Russian teams at any level in the near future.
