In response to Leander Dendoncker’s £13 million transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Alan Hutton has issued a warning to the Aston Villa midfielders.
On the last day of the transfer window, Dendoncker joined Villa Park, giving Steven Gerrard’s squad a wealth of midfield talent and experience. During his stint at Molineux, the Belgian international made more than 150 appearances.
During his three years in the Black Country, he developed into a crucial member of Wolves’ squad, and Hutton thinks that will alert Villa’s players, who have been underwhelming this season.
Former Villa defender Hutton stated in an interview with Villa News: “I’ve always loved him as a player and Steven Gerrard wanted somebody to come in and it’s not just about numbers, it’s about what he brings to the football club.
He’s going to put pressure on the boys that are already there as I don’t think they haven’t been in sparkling form of late. He will have to maybe wait for one or two games to get in unless Gerrard wants to freshen it up.
“I am surprised that Wolves allowed him to go, maybe that got decent money for him, but he’s’ another good option for Gerrard.”
