Now that the World Cup break is approaching, Phil Hay has disclosed that Leeds United and Jesse Marsch have been discussing what they should do.
For the first time in the history of the tournament, the World Cup will take place in the middle of the season, interrupting top-flight football for an extended period of time. Leeds, like every other Premier League team, is preparing for what is sure to be a very odd winter.
The Whites’ final match is on November 12 and they don’t play again until Boxing Day against Manchester City, which isn’t the best game to return to – but Marsch is anxious to keep his players in shape and on the ball by sending them abroad in the winter.
On the most recent edition of The Phil Hay Show, Hay said that Leeds were planning a trip to the United States during the middle of the season.
He added: “Last week, when we asked Marsch about what Leeds will do over the break, he said they’ll get a fortnight off to start, and then they’ll be back in.
There has been discussion of them travelling to California in the United States to train there and perhaps pass the time as everyone waits for Boxing Day to begin again.
Although Marsch would prefer to have a second preseason with all of his players, especially those like Junior Firpo and Liam Cooper who had injuries during the summer, several of his team will unavoidably be travelling to Qatar to play for their nations.

The greatest approach to transform a frustrating situation into something that may perhaps be good is to take the rest of his team to California rather than staying at Thorp Arch.
Marsch will be hoping that by the time this World Cup break comes around, Leeds have turned their form around, having only won twice all season, with their last victory coming at the end of August – as having a prolonged period of time off may get a lot more negative press if they haven’t done so.
