Ben Foster, a former goalkeeper for Watford, believes Manchester City and Chelsea will finish next season ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League standings.
In the previous season, the Reds came in second place, one point behind the Cityzens. The Sky Blues were able to defeat Aston Villa on the last day of the season despite a lot of ups and downs.
Ben Foster, a former Manchester United player who captained the team from 2005 to 2010, projected Liverpool would place fourth in the previous campaign. The 39-year-old commented on The Cycling GK on YouTube (via Mirror) and praised the Reds’ combative play.

“I simply assumed they would give it their all the season before, and I assumed they would die off last season. They didn’t die off last season; instead, they were up there the entire time, alive and kicking until the very last game of the season.”
Both players and supporters complained about being worn out during the 2020–21 season. We lost two of our top centre backs throughout the season, so we had to rely on Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams’ skill in the backline to finish in the top four.

But the previous season, when Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip were both fully healthy, we had one of the greatest defensive records in the PL. Ibrahima Konate gave the center-back position additional depth and strength.
Sadio Mane’s departure, in Foster’s opinion, will significantly affect the upcoming season. The 39-year-old goalie believes the Reds will place third as a result.
“I think it’s acceptable that I gave them the fourth spot in the previous season; this year, I’m going for third.” This year, I believe there will be two teams that are superior to Liverpool.
I believe they are going through a transitional moment after losing Sadio Mane, and I do not believe they will attempt to compete for the Premier League title. Still, I have faith that they’ll succeed.
Liverpool has suffered grief by losing by a slim margin before, most recently last season. With 97 points on the board, we came in second place during the 2018–19 campaign. We came in the following season and won a league title after a 30-year gap.
Liverpool has the fortitude and tenacity to persevere despite setbacks. In the past five years, we have advanced to three Champions League finals, winning one against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Reds’ performances under Jurgen Klopp cannot be eliminated from the championship fight for the upcoming season. We are competitive people. The Merseysiders have previously rebounded. Fans will be hoping for more victories in the upcoming season.
