Leeds United fans may be hoping that the 4-2 win over Wolves will not prove to be the high point of Javi Gracia’s tenure, but one player whose outstanding display has been acknowledged this morning is Max Wober.
Leeds were not at their best at Molineux. However, for one of the first times this season, they were ruthless in front of goal to earn a massive three points in the battle to stay in the Premier League.

But some of the displays on show were colossal. And one of those came from Wober at the heart of the defence.
Wober display in Leeds win acknowledged
The Austrian has proved to be an amazing signing since arriving in the January transfer window. He has quickly established himself as our best defender.

And his display on Saturday has earned him a place in Tony Cascarino’s team of the week in The Times this morning.
Wober is the only Leeds player in the team made up of those who featured in the Premier League and FA Cup this past weekend.
Credit where credit’s due, you would imagine that Jesse Marsch had a big role to play in Leeds signing Wober in January. The pair worked together at Red Bull Salzburg. So he would have surely had a big say in whether the Whites pursued a deal at the start of the year.
That decision is threatening to be a real turning point in Leeds’ season. Wober should now be considered one of the very first names on Javi Gracia’s team sheet.
And it is probably not a coincidence that both Robin Koch and Junior Firpo are having their best spells in a Leeds shirt either side of him.
It was not a performance as breathtaking as the demolition of Chelsea in August. But the team deserve enormous credit for digging in and finding some way to secure the points.
And Wober’s performance went a long way to ensuring we got across the line.
