Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said the signing of the two World Cup stars would “send out the right message.”
Paul Robinson has urged Tottenham to pursue the “statement” signings of Achraf Hakimi and Josko Gvardiol.
Spurs are expected to enter the transfer market next month.
According to The Telegraph‘s Matt Law (20 December), a creative midfielder and a right wing-back are being targeted.
The Athletic‘s Jack Pitt Brooke named (26 December) RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol, 20, and Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi, 24, as potential big-name targets.

Antonio Conte is said to be a big fan of Hakimi.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Robinson said: “Gvardiol and Hakimi would be statement signings.
“That would show a level of intent a bit like when they signed Richarlison. Spurs did not fish around for a bargain, they went out and signed a tried and tested star. Everyone stood up and took notice.
“That would be the case if Spurs signed Gvardiol or Hakimi. It would send out the right message.
“I would love to see them both at Tottenham, Hakimi especially. He would bring so much to the team in the system Conte plays. It is well known that they need a better right wing-back and there are not many better out there than Hakimi.”
