After their planned transfers to AC Milan fell through, Tottenham might utilise Japhet Tanganga or Sergio Reguilon in a swap deal for Nicolo Zaniolo.
While at White Hart Lane, the duo were favourites of current Roma manager Jose Mourinho, and should Spurs make an approach for the Italian midfielder, he could be enticed to work with them once more.

Since transferring from Inter Milan to Roma in 2018, Zaniolo has appeared 111 times for Roma across all leagues. The 23-year-old experienced two ACL rupture within a year, which considerably hindered his career in the Italian city. After announcing the surprise signing of Paulo Dybala, the Giallorossi may be willing to let him go.
Although Antonio Conte is reportedly interested in bringing the offensive midfielder to North London, this does not seem to have discouraged Conte.
The player has been the subject of interest rumours all summer. Earlier in the transfer window, the club’s sports director Fabio Paratici allegedly offered center-back Joe Rodon extra £25 million in exchange for the Italian.

The Serie A team declined the bid because they were not interested in the Welsh defender and are holding out for a sum closer to £40m. The Lilywhites could make another bid for the midfielder though as they try to expand their pool of attacking alternatives.
Given their evident desire to lower the cost of the Italy international, they could try to trade the star for some of their present assets once more.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, AC Milan apparently had interest in current players Sergio Reguilon and Japhet Tanganga, but they are now supposedly want Abou Diallo instead.
Spurs might now offer Zaniolo in exchange for the two unwanted players as a consequence. Mourinho is believed to have a positive opinion of the two from his time at Tottenham.
Tanganga made his squad debut for the 59-year-old in 2019 and was frequently included in his defence. When the ex-Chelsea manager learned Reguilon would be spending Christmas alone in 2020, he made history by giving him a unique ham.
The left back still remembers the gesture and told Diario AS about it.
