What’s the latest news involving Barry?
Barry, described as a “fantastic talent” by ex-Swindon boss Ben Garner, arrived at Aston Villa as a 16-year-old from Barcelona back in 2020 after spending one season at the Nou Camp after his move from West Brom.
He’s been impressive for the club’s Under-21s, scoring 15 goals in 22 appearances in recent years, while he scored on his only senior outing against Liverpool in the FA Cup back in 2021.
As a result, Barry has been sent out on loan on various occasions, spending last campaign at Ipswich and then Swindon.
He hardly featured for Ipswich but enjoyed success when dropping into League Two with Swindon, scoring six goals to help them finish in the play-offs.
Having proved himself at fourth-tier level, Barry was rewarded with a switch to League One side MK Dons, although he’s yet to score or assist during his time with the Dons.
What did Preece say about Barry?
He told GIVEMESPORT: “Aston Villa are waiting for him to really explode. He showed moments at Swindon last season and was crucial for their run to the play-offs.
“He’s yet to do it at MK Dons. I’m sure he’ll find his feet, I think highly of Barry, he’s a natural goalscorer, you can’t buy that really, so waiting for him to do it at MK Dons, he hasn’t really clicked for him yet, but he’s on a loan deal and they’ll have a look at it and his first team prospects will be assessed in the summer.”

How has Barry performed this season?
MK Dons are struggling on the whole, winning just three times in their first 10 league matches.
That form probably isn’t helping Barry settle in, but he’s still getting plenty of opportunities to impress.
He might have been left out of the squad for their last two League One games, but before that, he had made five starts and four outings from the bench.
Barry is to register a goal or assist during 437 minutes of action at Stadium MK, but he’s continuing to gain valuable experience in a bid to eventually break into Villa’s first team.
