We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson doesn’t believe there’s anything Leeds United-related in a recent sighting of Andrea Radrizzani and Nasser Al-Khelaifi in Qatar at the World Cup together.
Radrizzani and Qatari billionaire Al-Khelaifi were spotted together in the directors’ box at the Spain and Germany match in the group stages of the tournament in Qatar.
Al-Khelaifi is the owner of both Paris Saint-Germain and Qatar Sports Investments, who have been linked with a takeover at Leeds in recent years [The Athletic].
But with the 49ers ramping up their efforts to buy Leeds from Radrizzani [The Times], Robinson doesn’t believe that talks have reignited and believes that if Radrizzani and Al-Khelaifi were to be discussing anything in Qatar, it would be their businesses away from football.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I don’t think you can read anything into it.
“They’re both in the same industry. Radrizzani’s got his company Eleven Group and Nasser owns the world’s biggest sports company beIN SPORTS.
“Other than them both being from the same background, that’s the logistical explanation.
“Or you could put two and two together and come up with six.
“But they obviously know each other and have the same business interests. Other than that, you don’t know if it’s a friendship or a business relationship.”
