Everton had a very good day at both the club and international levels.
In their final game in Australia, Frank Lampard’s team defeated Western Sydney Wanderers 5-1.
Lampard took advantage of the chance to offer some of his excellent youth youngsters first-team experience.
Because of the World Cup, Lampard has been able to give these kids an opportunity.
And Everton fans would have tuned in to last night’s match between Belgium and Canada to witness one specific player.
The Red Devils defeated Canada 1-0 in their first game, but it was far from a convincing showing.
Canada should have gotten at least a point, if not all three, against Belgium after outplaying Roberto Martinez’s team.
Martinez did, though, come off the bench teenage midfielder Amadou Onana at halftime, and he helped reverse the tide in the second half.
Onana came in for Youri Tielemans, who was unable to control the game in the centre of the park.
The £33 million Everton man did help reclaim some of that control, and he operated effectively in tandem with Axel Witsel.
Onana was compared to legendary midfielder Zinedine Zidane after his World Cup debut.
It’s a bit of a reach, but there’s obviously a lot of faith in the 21-year-old.
Onana captioned a series of photos, ‘Believe in yourself, because dreams do come true.’
His Belgium teammate Zeno Debast was highly thrilled with his performance and just nicknamed him ‘Zizouu
Despite the fact that the duo had never played together, Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville praised Onana’s performance.

Onana has quickly established himself as a crucial player for Lampard at Everton.
Jamie Redknapp believes there are no limitations to how excellent Onana may become.
It’s probably too early to compare Onana to Zidane.
But he may get a chance to start for Belgium against Morocco on Sunday after having a good game off the bench.
